The perfect distillation of Barack Obama's presidency

John Podhoretz admires the perfection of this distillation of all that is Barack Obama's approach to the presidency for this comment from Obama on CBS. There you have it - Obama's arrogance that the government is responsible for everything and, as the leader of the government, he has the ultimate responsibility. And then you have his willingness to escape responsibility for what is not going well "to some degree." Or as Harry Truman famously said, "The buck stops here....except when it doesn't."

I nlast nights interview on 60 minutes, Obama said:

" you know, in a lot of these places the one organizing principle has been Islam. The one part of society that hasn’t been controlled completely by the government."

That, in a nutshell, is Obama's philosophy of government: control everything. That is why Obama picked an unnecessary fight with the Catholic Church over contraceptives. It was not about contraceptives. The fight is about control of the church.
