Cruising the Web

The President's defenders who are trying to twist the meaning of Obama's "you didn't build that" speech into saying it doesn't mean what he clearly meant are just practicing postmodern hooey. Of course, with the media covering for Obama and interpreting his marks according to the Obama spin, maybe it will all work out for the Democrats.

And the Romney team will be able to produce a whole series of ads like this one contrasting Obama's vision of how business grows in America to actual small business owners talking about what they risked and the work they put in to build their own businesses.

Obama could learn from Canada and how their focus on fiscal discipline and move away from socialist policies to free markets and lower corporate taxes has allowed Canada to surpass the U.S. economically. Alas, Obama refuses to learn from evidence. And this is the party who prides itself on paying more obeisance to science and results than ideology? Ptooey!

Poor Jay Carney is reduced to arguing that the Jobs Council hasn't met because he has so much on his plate. Yeah, like a hundred fundraisers, and gosh knows how many golf outings.

I wonder how many Democrats will vote against legislation blocking Obama's power grab on gutting the work requirements from the 1996 welfare reform. And on the other side, how many Republicans will vote to block a bill requiring presidential candidates to release a decade's worth of tax returns?

Barack Obama: the Great Demotivator. Excellent.

Max Boot excoriates the hypocrisy of Yale University which wouldn't let ROTC recruit on campus because of the military's discrimination against gays, but now is opening a campus in Singapore where homosexuality, and political protests, and political speech are all controlled by the government. I guess it's only bad if the American government does it; other countries...not so much.

Is YouTube correct that it has to remove political ads when there are complaints over their use of songs or clips of newscasts? It seems that they don't understand "fair use."

How Penn State should learn from Duke's mishandling of the rape allegations in the lacrosse scandal.

What does it say about a school district when 15,000 students total are on waiting lists for charter schools?

Was Steve Jobs also a felon when he took a leave of absence from Apple for health reasons and still signed off on SEC documents?

There are few things more enjoyable for sports fans than seeing a talented take down of James Dolan, owner of the Knicks.

Obama's "building that" comment was clearly referring to infrastructure. The manipulation won't fool more than the "Obama hates America" crowd.

It was repub websites (including this one) that tried to spread the absurd lie that the WH response to people suffering from storms (in which people had died) was to buy Obama merchandise because of a campaign tweet. Pathetic.
Of course, dems have done the same twisting of words ("I like to fire people").

There are some genuinely idiotic gaffes ("the private sector is doing fine"). I wonder if people here can actually tell the difference, or have been so brainwashed that they've lost all common sense.

Obama's "building that" comment was clearly referring to infrastructure.

Even if you grant this point for the sake of argument, the government built that infrastructure by confiscating wealth from individuals and corporations to do so.

Also, President Obama made his remarks in the context of justifing the confiscation of even more wealth from individuals and corporations and even more growth of government.
