Cruising the Web

How Washington has done for washers what it has also done for low-flow toilets and for incandescent light bulbs.

Keith Hennessey outlines what Republicans should be doing for the next continuing resolution fight.

I'm sure you don't need it, but here's some more evidence of what an idiot Joy Behar is.

Is Interior Secretary Ken Salazar ignorant or lying?

Scott Walker challenges Obama on federal workers' lack of collective bargaining power.

Democrats on the Hill are getting very frustrated
with the lack of leadership in the battles over the budget.

Nancy Pelosi demonstrates
that she has absolutely no limit on her chutzpah.

This is what union thuggery looks like.

On the Behar thing: I agree with her. As noted elsewhere:

In Night, a memoir written by Elie Wiesel about his time in Auschwitz and Buchenwald concentration camps, the author discussed humor in the concentration camps and the macabre forms it took:
In Treblinka, where a day’s food was some stale bread and a cup of rotting soup, one prisoner cautions a fellow inmate against gluttony. “Hey Moshe, don’t overeat. Think of us who will have to carry you.”

Gallows humor is often necessary for sanity. In a place like Treblinka I imagine you'd do anything to hold on to any shred of sanity. I would.

(p.s. I hate the idea of having to defend Joy Behar.)

Yeah, Nancy Pelosi lecturing on fiscal responsibility is like Obama lecturing on decisiveness. No self-awareness whatsoever. She's either one of the the most shameless, audacious liars ever to walk the planet or else she has lost her grip on reality altogether. Either way, she is a big reason we are in the mess we are in.
