What struck me was this comment from Joe Klein.
"He became Ground Zero among the neo-cons, but he's vastly smarter than most of them," said Time's Joe Klein, an admirer and critic who praised Krauthammer's "writing skills and polemical skills" as "so far above almost anybody writing columns today."How particularly nasty to say that he would be a better thinker of he weren't paralyzed. Can you imagine if a conservative said that about a disabled liberal? Is he saying that all people confined to wheelchairs have narrow, unenlightened views? Usually liberals want to say that the obstacles that someone has personally overcome broadens their views. How many times have we read that FDR's polio made him a more sensitive and caring leader? I guess he was also lacking the nuance that Joe Klein admires.
"There's something tragic about him too," Klein said, referring to Krauthammer's confinement to a wheelchair, the result of a diving accident during his first year of medical school. "His work would have a lot more nuance if he were able to see the situations he's writing about."
"My writing speaks for itself," Krauthammer responded in a curt email.

Klein, like most liberal writers, have absolutely no understanding of anyone who does not read from their hymnal. Krauthammer, true to Klein's style, is somehow alien, apart from the intellectual center of the Universe, and Klein is trying to explain Krauthammer's quaintness as if he's a cute little bug on the sidewalk.
Newsbusters.com, among others, is filled with a dozen such stories every single day.
Return the favor on a liberal, however, and you're guilty of sweeping generalizations, you're a racist, a homophobe, a sexist, a global warming denier, a neocon, mentally defective, you're a hater.
I must be all of those things, and more, I suppose. And proud of it. I will not be categorized by people I consider to be destroying my country and turning it into a bankrupt, second rate world power, run by hysterical girls.
Thank-you so much for exposing this terribly offensive comment. Some people are still so ignorant.
On the plus side, Krauthammer's vision is not as narrow as Klein's.
I continue to be amazed that, just below the skin, so many lefties are low rent, back stabbing haters who will dehumanize anyone they come in contact with.
I agree with bobdog's excellent comment. It reminds me of all the 'down the memory hole' examples of lib hate speech hypocrisy:Bill Maher's 'extra chromosome' insult; Randi Rhodes 'big f–king whores' tirade; and Janeane Garofalo's obtuse bigotry of 'tea party racists', to name but a tiny, tiny few.
But, let a conservative have a 'macaca moment', and, well, let the wrath of h3ll come sweep you, your dog, and all your grandchildren into the bottomless pit, while your name is cursed into the 23rd century! It's simply silly & pointless to ever try and be rational & reasonable with these petulant adolescents.
Kara, it's only offensive if the target is a liberal. If the target is a conservative, then everything is fair game.
