Previous government gifts for GM

Timothy Carney reminds us of how GM has benefited in the past from both local and federal government help whether it was using eminent domain to bulldoze a neighborhood or from federal laws mandating wage and price controls or the use of catalytic converters. Just some more examples to demonstrate that big business doesn't always oppose big government. They're plenty happy to accept big government regulations and laws if they think they and not their competitors will be the ones to benefit. Or when they want taxpayer money to help bail them out from years of bad management decisions.
