The US press has repeatedly rehearsed Mr Obama’s extraordinary odyssey, but the other side of the family’s American experience has only been revealed in parts. Just across town from where Mr Obama made history as the first black president of the Harvard Law Review, some of his closest blood relatives have confronted the harshness of immigrant life in America.Link via Instapundit who notes, "Funny how you have to go to the British papers -- in this case the London Times -- for this kind of story."
In his book Mr Obama writes that “Uncle Omar” had gone missing after moving to Boston in the 1960s – a quarter-century before Mr Obama first visited his family in Kenya. Aunt Zeituni is now also living in Boston, and recently made a $260 campaign contribution to her nephew's presidential bid from a work address in the city.
Speaking outside her home in Flaherty Way, South Boston, on Tuesday, Ms Onyango, 56, confirmed she was the “Auntie Zeituni” in Mr Obama’s memoir. She declined to answer most other questions about her relationship with the presidential contender until after the November 4 election. “I can’t talk about it, I just pray for him, that’s all,” she said, adding: “After the 4th, I can talk to anyone.”

Not spreading the wealth around
Bob Krumm notes that Obama isn't spreading the wealth around to his aunt living in poverty in Boston. Instead the campaign has apparently just told her to avoid talking to the press.

WHO asked her NOT to talk until AFTER the 4th?
Do you think the reporter even bother to ask?
Imagine if John McCain was running the country the same way he is running his failed campaign.
Imagine if his choices for cabinet posts were like his "Bible Spice" pick for VP.

Would it be possible for the lies to just stop? "Obama isn't spreading the wealth around to his aunt living in poverty in Boston."
The newspaper reported that the aunt is "living in modest circumstances". She is affluent enough to send a $260 contribution to the Obama campaign.
Again, I have to point out: when you are reduced to lying about those with different political opinions, you have already lost.
Odd there is no listing of an Onyango at Open Secrets for any political donation from 2006-2008. But in the Boston area elgibility for public housing, which the headline described as "rundown" is roughly $32K per year for a single person and $41K if Uncle Omar is still around somewhere. And considering the state of public housing in the US I can only assume that modest in these circumstances means that the windows are not bricked in and the elevator still works.
My mom lives in a 2,800 sq. ft. condominium about a mile from the beach in California. Owing to her retirement, widowhood and lack of debt she lives off of her pension in decidedly modest circumstances. But I suppose to some modest always means moderately comfortable rather than simply quietly living.

When last I checked it was the Dems corrupt policies on regulating Fannie and Freddie that led us down the primrose path to where my 403b has lost much of it's value.

Guess you'd better pack it up then. Since when did someone's opinion constitute a lie? Would seem to me if 'bama was felt comfortable enough to mention these people in his campaign, then he should at least help take care of them. After all, aren't liberals supposed to be the more caring people?
Go waste your 'bama talking points on someone who might actually fall for it, like back at the Kos...
But then again, when did the truth actually matter to those folks?
And it's not suspicious at all that the aunt's contribution came from a work address? And then there's this:
The Times could not determine their immigration status and an official at Boston City Hall said that Ms Onyango was a resident of Flaherty Way but not registered to vote on the electoral roll. However, that Ms Onyango made a contribution to the Obama campaign would indicate that she is a US citizen.
Because we know that, with the credit card security firmly in place, the 0 campaign couldn't possibly take contributions from anyone who's not a citizen.
Imagine if Barack 0bama was running the country the same way he is running his campaign - bringing in a record $605 million and asking for just $10 more (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/10/obama-money.html), and then just $5 more
(http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/10/obama-money-1.html). That sort of stellar budget management would explain why he thinks he can add $4.3 trillion in new spending and pay for it all with an additional 3% tax on 5% of the country.
Please Brian -- if you have any facts to offer, bring them forward.
If you just want to make noise, and throw some insults around, Betsy's blog is not the right place for you. Take it to the playground with the other kids.
Facts are all over the place. It's not my fault if you're not energetic or open minded enough to look them up for yourself and loose the tunnel vision.
Here's a novel idea; if you disagree with what I said, show me proof I'm wrong. I didn't insult anybody, I stated a fact; liberals are not interested in the facts or truth, only what they can twist to make themselves look good and others look bad. If you took that as an insult, that's your problem.
As for facts; Franks, Dodd, Waters and many other Democrats all blocked regulation of Fannie/Freddie at least six times. Using the changes in the CRA from the mid 1990's as a crutch, they made it possible for people to buy houses who were not capable of paying for them. Even Bill Clinton tried to change it in 1999 and was blocked by his own party.
That lack of regulation, which allowed the bad loans and siphoning of money into the pockets of politicians and Franklin Raines, led to an economic self destruction in the housing market since the financial institutions could not write down the value of the loans (due to the mark to market rules). As property values plummeted and the banks got stuck with assets they couldn't move.
That's a lead for you to start with your research and some facts to chew on.
If you are too ignorant to understand what reality is, go back to the KosKidz site and complain to them as I don't have time to teach someone how to do basic research, and the ablility to have an open mind cannot be taught. Oh, and stop drinking the Kool-aid, it's bad for you.
Where Obama's aunt lives--
http://bostonherald.com/news/2008/view.bg?articleid=1128958&format=text
No wonder Sen. Obama might have kept his relatives well outside of that ten foot pole. His aunt is definitely in the country illegally and if she did donate money to his campaign then that donation was illegal and should have been refused.
Plus now the question has come up in how does an illegal alien qualify for housing assistance instead of being deported? Sen. Obama's denial of any responsibility for his relaives, like Cain's, means that he is not his brother's keeper but we are!
