Both Clinton and Obama are inflating their Senate records

The Washington Post has a front-page story on how both Obama and Clinton have tried to take credit for Senate initiatives in which they actually had a very limited role. We're already pretty familiar with how Clinton has tried to take credit for the successes of her husband's administration. We've seen recently her attempts to claim a role in negotiating peace in Northern Ireland and how those in the know pooh-pooh her claims. The same thing is true for the passing of SCHIP in the late 1990s. Senator Obama has tried to do the same thing and some of his own supporters in the Senate are not willing to allow him to get away with that bit of résumé-inflation on immigration or federal home mortgage protections. The truth is that both Senator Clinton and Obama have rather thin records from their time in the Senate yet now they have to insert themselves into every possible accomplishment whether they actually had a role or not.
