John McCain's relations with Republican senators

The Washington Post looks at the rather strained relations John McCain has had with other Republicans in the Senate. Some of those tensions are fine with me. More people should lose their temper with Ted Stevens over the way he finangles appropriations for Alaska and organizations that have funneled money to Stevens and his family members. I do think that McCain went over the top in alleging corruption and bad motives against anyone who opposed his campaign finance reform. And it was just last year when he was cursing out John Cornyn over the immigration bill.

What is funny is McCain's aide defending his temper by pointing to how well he works with Democrats.
Salter scoffed at the idea that McCain is not fit to be president and said most stories about his temper are "wildly exaggerated." He pointed to McCain's success at "across-the-aisle cooperation" with Democrats as an example of how he would deal with Congress if elected president.
Exactly. That is what conservatives are upset with him about. He curses at his Republican colleagues and then goes to work with the Democrats. And you know that that is what we'd see over and over if McCain were president. I guess Salter hasn't gotten the memo or doesn't care about all the conservatives who are cursing about McCain's victories.

Sigh.
