Hillary flailing about

As the Hillary poll numbers continue to decline she's started to go strident. Forget her gracious statement in last week's debate that it was an honor to run against Barack Obama. Now she's knocking him for his experience while employing biting satire about how the celestial heavens will open up and allow Obama to achieve all his goals without any partisan pain. And then her campaign sent around the picture Drudge had of Obama dressed in traditional Somali clothes as if that was somehow a disqualifying portrait of Obama.

I guess that Hillary's campaign, which had been quarreling about which tactics she should employ in this last week before Ohio and Texas vote, decided to adopt all the proposed tactics, just on a rotating basis. Perhaps they have a crying moment penciled in for the weekend.

The Clinton campaign has not been pretty. Neither she nor her husband are attractive when they're fighting from behind. Their behavior in this campaign has been a pulling back of the mask to let everyone see the ugly ambition that lies beneath.

If despite all predictions, she should pull it out and win the nomination, it would be an unfortunate development for American politics. Just think what lessons campaign operatives would learn from her campaign and then apply in future campaigns. It's not a pretty picture.
