Trying to make money from blogging remains a challenge, he said, with many advertisers continuing to resist the potentially irresistible online audience. While I make a bit of money from my ads, it's not all that much and totally a bonus for something I started doing six years ago for the fun of it without any thought of making money off it. I know that there are some people who are depending on living off of their blog earnings. I don't know if they're successful and how well that business plan is working for them. I wonder how long online only media entities like Pajamas Media, Slate or Politico will be financially viable. I hope they take off financially because I get so much pleasure out of accessing them for free. Cheers to Roger Simon for the success that Pajamas has had.
"The Pajamas readership, of all the blogs, demographically, is above the Wall Street Journal in income and education," Mr. Simon said.
Persuading advertisers to pay to reach that upscale online readership is still a tough sell.
"This is not just a problem for PajamasMedia. Going forward, it's going to be a huge problem for all [online] media," he said.

Roger Simon - pajamas cowboy
The Washington Times profiles Roger L. Simon of Pajamas Media and calls him the "John Wayne of the Blogosphere." I'm not sure exactly what that means, but I gather it's a good thing.
