It's on!

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the Second Amendment case from the District of Columbia.

This could likely be the case that arouses the most passion on either side this term. The Court hasn't taken on a gun rights case since the Great Depression so both sides will be eagerly waiting to see how the Court comes down on this. Perhaps we'll achieve some sort of clarity on how the justices believe perceive the right to bear arms.

With the case scheduled to be heard in the Spring and delivered in the early summer, it will be very difficult for politicians running for office to ignore the issue or try to glide over it with some sort of triangulating platitude.

For those of you with a legal background or just an interest in the issue, Eugene Volokh has provided this excellent source on the Second Amendment and related laws and rulings.
