Harry Reid on Adam Smith

Harry Reid tried to commit economics again.

"There is a time for government. Adam Smith, in his great book, The Wealth of a Nation in 1776 said there is a place for government. If he were writing that book today, he would talk about the need for government throughout America in many different ways."

Er, Harry, check out the title of Adam Smith's classic book.As my husband said,

All the books in the world that endorse or advocate government, and he picks Wealth of Nations? Jeez.

Perhaps, someone could give Harry Reid, P.J. O'Rourke's book explaining Adam Smith's philosophy.

And now that Reid has a strange new respect for Adam Smith, perhaps he'd like to revisit his position on free trade agreements.
