Check out Myron Magnet's essay in City Journal, "In the Heart of Freedom, in Chains." It's a powerful synthesis of so much of the problem that we're seeing today in racial relations and problems of the underclass. He ties together the Duke Lacrosse travesty, the Don Imus story, and gangsta rap as he looks at the tragedy of the culture that we are seeing today in so much of the inner-city black community. It's not racism that is victimizing young blacks today but something that will be just as insidious to remove.
