Don't take on Brian Lamb

Michael Savage is a big mouthed embarrassment for conservatives. He's not worth listening to. But he just went too far when he took on Brian Lamb. Howard Mortman has the story of how Savage got his listeners to write abusive messages to C-Span because they didn't air a taped message he sent to Talkers Magazine when he won an award. He accused C-Span of being left-wing. That is ridiculous. If you looked up objective, fair media in the dictionary they would have a picture of C-Span there. I've been watching C-Span for years and Brian Lamb is one of the people I admire most in either the media or public life. He has created something of great value to the American people by just keeping those C-Span cameras running on Congress and public affairs. I have never been able to figure out Lamb's personal political opinions. (My only complaint about Briam Lamb is that I really miss his Booknotes show which I preferred to the Q and A show he now does on Sunday nights.)

Anyway, when C-Span started getting abusive Savage-inspired emails, Brian Lamb did what he does best - allow people to expose their own little minds in public by just reading their emails on the air. He explained why they didn't air the taped speech and offered Savage the opportunity to give his speech live on C-Span.
Here's some of what Lamb read on air, according to closed captioning:

"Here's one from Col. Tom Haggerty. He says, 'The little man Lamb' -- me, he is talking about -- 'the dry, stone-faced little man.' Signed, Col. Tom Haggerty. This one from, let's see, Argulario, it says, 'Did you really turn off the free speech award when he was to talk? How dare you? Are you a Nazi and a Stalinist and probably a homosexual, and I don't appreciate your agenda.' This is from a fellow named Jim Lewis: 'As a taxpayer, I'm demanding that you air the freedom speech by Dr. Savage. I pay your salary, and you have no right censoring programs based on your political beliefs. When can I see the time slots and promos for airing of his speech. I will await your responding. I would hate to lead the effort of the removal of you people who have offended not only me but many other Americans.'"

And this one: "I am outraged at your cowardice. It is even an act of cowardice or something much more sinister. Perhaps you are a neo-Marxist, neo-Leninist. I do not expect a response from one that is, at best, a weakling and, at worst, an enemy of our republic."
By reading the e-mails on the air and explaining the story with such equanimity, Lamb exposed the tiny minds of Savage's fans.

Their last names describe them, but this time the Lamb defeated the Savage one.
