Officially a joke

It's nice that in these days of terribly depressing stories from around the world, one person is determined to give us something we can all laugh about. I'm referring to Sheryl Crow who has bravely volunteered to be a worldwide joke with her ideas of saving the environment by limiting ourselves to just one square of toilet paper, except for those pesky situations when we could use a couple more squares. As Glenn Reynoldshas mentioned, this is a case of negative branding. Will anyone ever be able to listen to her again without looking at her hands and hoping that she has washed them sufficiently?

And why stop there? Why not just recommend that people reach into the recycled paper bin and pull out some paper from there to use? It rather reminds me of when I spent a summer in 1979 in the Soviet Union and encountered everything from pages of newspaper to squares of wax paper to be used in the public toilets. I guess they were just worried about global warming.

While Crow has been touring the country in a bio-diesel bus to highlight problems of global warming, the Smoking Gun has the contract for her regular tours. For those tours, she requires 3 tractor trailers, 4 buses and 6 cars. I guess she just needs a bigger carbon footprint for those shows.

Meanwhile, Byron York has the inside scoop of that contretemps between Karl Rove and Crow and her pal Laurie David. Not surprisingly, it is a tad been different from the spin that David and Crow put on the moment. I guess we'll have to wait for the Maureen Dowd column to put the final word on it all - I'm sure she'll have a totally straightforward account. Meanwhile, I think Lucianne has summed up all our thoughts after hearing that Crow was jabbing her finger at Rove's chest.
Considering Sheryl Crow's position on toilet paper use is it any wonder Rove resisted her touch?
See how that negative branding works? You can't think of anything else when Sheryl Crow's hands enter the picture.
