Following in Maryland's footsteps

Hawaii seems poised to follow in the path of Maryland in voting in the National Popular Vote option that would allot their Electoral votes to the winner of the popular vote regardless of how the population in their state voted. However, the provision wouldn't go into effect unless states totallying more than 270 Electoral votes agree to the National Popular Vote plan. If both governors approve these votes by their legislatures, they would be on their way with a grand total of 14 Electoral votes.

Note that it is Democratic legislators who seem to support this move to negate how their own citizens vote in an election. They're so snake-bitten by the 2000 election that they can't picture the reverse happening and their being forced to ignore the popular vote for the Democratic candidate in their state and having to cast their Electoral votes for a Republican. Making a bad law is what you do when you're continually fighting the last war. Not all elections are 2000 just as not all wars are Vietnam.
