Zarqawi Dead

It's a great day for the Iraqis and the coalition fighting the terrorists in Iraq. It doesn't mean the end of the fighting there, but killing him and his top aides will create roadblocks for those who wanted to incite sectarian violence in that country. He had just recently called for war on Shi'ites in Iraq and for the assassination of Grand Ayatullah Ali al-Sistani. Perhaps that was enough to have someone flip on Zarqawi and turn in his hiding place.

And for more good news from Iraq, the government announced that they had filled the key security positions of Interior and Defense secretaries, the two cabinet positions that had caused the most problems in finding someone acceptable to various groups in the government.
The Iraqi parliament approved today Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's candidates for new defence and interior ministers.

By a clear majority, it approved Jawad al-Bolani, a Shi'ite, as interior minister and General Abdel Qader Jassim, a Sunni and until now Iraqi ground forces commander, as defence minister.
Just think of what this means. The Iraqis were able to come together and negotiate a compromise rather than turning to violence amongst themselves. They wanted to resolve their problems in a peaceful solution and they did.

The violence won't stop in Iraq, just like finding Saddam or killing his sons didn't stop the violence, but the insurgency has been decapitated. This is a good day for Iraq.
