It sounds like the Supreme Court is searching out some middle ground on the parental notification case they heard yesterday whereby they can uphold the statue but just send it back down for a health exemption to be put in. This sounds like it would put an emergency abortion in a category similar to any medical emergency where a parent can't be reached and an operation needs to be performed immediately. Seeing as such medical emergencies that demand an immediate abortion are fortunately rather rare, this seems like a good compromise to respecting parental rights and true health questions for the mother. The Washington Post has placed its seal of approval on such a decision.
