Lost in all the news this past week has been that the GOP has had some disappointments in recruiting good candidates to oppose supposedly vulnerable Democratic incumbents in red states. What a shame that Shelly Moore Capito couldn't be convinced to take on Robert Byrd in West Virgina. She has decided to stay in the House rather than run against Senator Byrd. She had a real chance for defeating him.

Although, I can see that it is more fun to be in the majority in the House than in the Senate where most new ideas get blocked due to the rules of the filibuster. However, you can get passed all the great stuff you want in the House but it will go nowhere if you can't get the Senate to go along. I can understand someone not wanting to serve in the Senate in the company of so many blowhards, but geesh, it would have been nice to have had a strong candidate against Byrd next year.
