Is it any surprise to anyone how the Roberts hearings are going? We know now what we knew before that he was intelligent, charming, and funny, and that he isn't going to give the Senators any specifics about how he would rule on contentious issues. Dana Milbank doesn't think that the Senators laid a glove on him.

The confrontation over, Roberts stood up and exhaled deeply. Kennedy gritted his teeth.

Gosh, I wish I didn't have to work all day and that I didn't have a boatload of papers and tests to grade this week. I would have done much better if they'd had the hearings last week. Grrrr.

But I guess they didn't consult my teaching schedule for this thing.
