I have a bleg or a blog beg for help. My AP Government class is studying political parties. I want to give them articles to read for Tuesday about what each party should be doing to expand its appeal for 2008 (or 2006.) I have an article for the Democrats that discusses some of the recommendations that have been made since 2004 such as Thomas Frank's What's the Matter with Kansas and George Lakoff's Don't Think of an Elephant.
I need a matching article about the GOP. Has anyone seen an article with ideas for the Republicans to expand their base or counter Democratic inroads. Perhaps talking about getting beyond religious conservatives or taking positions on illegal immigration. It would be nice to have an article that talked about divisions within the Republican party and how they might bridge those divisions.
If you know of an article (about 2-4 pages) and could send me a link or reference this weekend, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks
