At 2:35 today, I said "What do you bet that the RNC has talking points of such remarks all ready to fax out to reporters and talk show hosts?"

Well, Ken Mehlman doesn't let many things slip by him and already has such a memo to distribute. Read the list and see if he has not offered evidence to support Karl Rove's remarks.

What is interesting is how fast the Democrats were to jump up and claim that Rove was talking about them when he said "liberals." I thought Democrats such as Kerry deny that they are liberals. They are "progressives" now, not liberals. They usually react as if conservatives are using a dirty epithet if they call Democrats "liberals."

They reacted as if what Rove said was such a terrible insult. However, he didn't say that New Yorkers, Democrats, or even liberals weren't horrified and angry after 9/11. No, look at what he said.
"Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers," Mr. Rove, the senior political adviser to President Bush, said at a fund-raiser in Midtown for the Conservative Party of New York State.

Citing calls by progressive groups to respond carefully to the attacks, Mr. Rove said to the applause of several hundred audience members, "I don't know about you, but moderation and restraint is not what I felt when I watched the twin towers crumble to the ground, a side of the Pentagon destroyed, and almost 3,000 of our fellow citizens perish in flames and rubble."
The liberals often want to use the language of the law to deal with terrorists. Look at the brouhaha over the treatment of terrorists at Guantanamo. If they truly believe that we are at war, then it wouldn't make sense to start talking about public hearings and due process for combatants picked up on the battlefield. That is not what you do during war.

Just about every conservative blogger has some great things to say about Rove's remarks and the Democratic response. Check out Captain's Quarters, Right Wing News, Hugh Hewitt, Michelle Malkin, Lorie Byrd, Ankle-Biting Pundits, Red State, Wizbang, and I'm sure that there are a lot more conservative blogs out there responding to the Rove controversy. The liberal bloggers are horrified. If you want to read some of them, check out the invaluable Memeorandum for those who are blogging about this story.
