The fact that 26 Democrats voted for cloture this afternoon on Priscilla Owen's nomination seems to say something. I'm not sure what. Were these the Democrats who weren't thrilled with the idea of filibustering the nominees to begin with? Were the 17 Democrats and Jim Jeffords just bitter at the deal reached last night? Are they just thumbing their noses to say that they still loooove the filibuster? What is the point in voting no on cloture? They can still vote no on the nomination? Mark these names down as the deadenders who will never give up their fight. The left will love them and the right will never be able to make deals with this group.
