George Will is pumping for Mitt Romney for Secretary of Homeland Security. Will seems to think that the national exposure would help Romney run for president in 2008. Come on, being the Homeland Security Secretary would be the death knell to presidential ambitions. Think of what it's done for Tom Ridge. He's the butt of late night jokes about the color system. YOu don't get any thanks in the job, but you will get blamed for every little thing that goes wrong. Since we can't have 100% security at every public place in the country, other politicians can always grandstand by pointing to some place that isn't protected. Mitt Romney may or may not be an attractive candidate for 2008, but he'd do better to stay in Massachusetts than to take that job.
