Senator Kerry is really getting desperate. Yesterday he said again that the potential for Bush bringing back the draft was great if Bush is reelected. Of course, there is no basis for his statement. Everyone has denied it on the Republican side. A bill do bring back the draft lost 402 to 2 in the House. Perhaps, Kerry needs to view Schoolhouse Rock again about a bill becomes a law. It won't happen. And the implication that politicians after Election Day would vote for a draft that they wouldn't vote for before Nov. 2 is just fatuous. Kerry knows that incumbent Congressmen will start planning for their next election on No. 3. They're not going to vote for a draft -- ever.
As Wizbang points out, it is the Kerry campaign that was speaking about mandatory government service. They since deleted it from their site, but the Wiz has a link to the cached proposal. I wish that the Bush team would come back with this. I don't think that people like the idea of any sort of mandatory service.
