Steven Taylor of Poliblog has an editorial looking at Dean's candidacy and his "liberal problem."
The contest in 2004 will likely come down to two major issues: security and the economy. With Dean's nonexistent foreign policy experience and with the economy showing some signs of recovery, it seems unlikely at this stage that he would be able to unseat the president. As such, the story of the 2004 election remains as follows: the Democrats' best hope comes in the form of either a national security and/or an economic crisis. This is not an enviable political position.
