Here's an interview with John Hawkins of Right Wing News. I ceertainly enjoy his blog and have benefited when he graciously puts up a link to mine. It's nice to see him getting the recognition he deserves. I also agree with him on the future of the blogosphere and the possibility of blogs one day being as influential as Rush Limbaugh is now. Just think about the blogosphere has expanded now and bloggers are starting to get recognized by the mainstream media. I meet fewer people who are clueless when I mention that I blog for my hobby. All the kids know what blogs are and many are starting their own. That generation is more likely to get their news from the Internet than to listen to talk radio. And I also agree with John about how much research bloggers do. I find that if I've had time to blog in the morning for an hour or two, that there is very little that Rush can mention on his show that I haven't already seen. If you subtract out the attraction of hearing new news then what you're left with is Limbaugh's humor and take on the news, his bloviating, and the vox populi. I'm not interested in the last two and it doesn't seem worth it most days to listen to all the rest to get the first one. I'd rather read Lileks, the Corner, Glenn Reynolds, or Mark Steyn on the news.
